CiKal  Hop Fo Children is located one hour from Medan, Sumatra, Indonesia. As you see in the map below, Medan is about center, left to right, and one inch from the top edge of the map. Stabat is the 2nd noted city west of Medan.

The temperature is usually between 85 and 95 degrees F.  It is a couple hundred miles from the equator and receives their share of rain. To cool off a little you can hire a car and driver for 3 or 4 days and go to Lake Toba where you will need a light jacket or sweater during the evenings.

Lake Toba is the largest lake that was formed by a huge volcano that collapsed making an island within the lake. It has a lot of interesting history and people are very friendly.  This area of Sumatra is primarily Christian influence where as most of Indonesia is primarily Muslim.

You may come and visit us and we will make sure you have a very enjoyable vacation whether you come to help only in the Cikal home or help teach English at nearby English schools and high schools.

To the South and East is the island of Nias. Angela Tobing can tell you how a nurse (and daughter), a male chaperone, and herself survived the 9.1 earthquake that struck about 80 miles from Nias while they were there doing medical clinics. She is quite modest about it so you may have to drag it out of her.
